Expert Advice:
We recommend a 30 minute first-burn in your new fire pit to burn off any excess manufacturing materials. You may use wood logs or manufactured wood, though the chemical make-up of manufactured logs may deteriorate your fire pit more quickly. For a long product life, wipe your cooled fire pit on a regular basis with a mild dish soap or baking soda, and rinse with clean water. Over time, the powder coated finish on non-stainless steel fire pits can deteriorate, resulting in rusting. This effect can be avoided to some extent by regular cleaning. Stainless steel fire pits will turn a yellowish color, and you can reduce this occurrence by polishing after frequent use with a stainless steel polish. A citrus-based degreaser and nylon scrubbing brush will help clean difficult stains, and chimney cleaning products will remove creosote accumulations from your fire pit.
